• Why is BlooMoon out in the middle of no where?

  Research has found that most boarding facilities and kennels are encroached upon by development over time.  Walt and Brenda, the founders of BlooMoon, believed that the current location should help prevent that problem. Most importantly, although there are multiple barriers between boarding guests and exits, it is all too common for pets, especially dogs, to get lost from boarding facilities, running out to busy streets and highways.  There's peace of mind to know that if a pet were to exit our facility, it would not be on a busy highway or major thoroughfare where the chance of injury or worse is great.

• Why the name BlooMoon? Why is it spelled with OOs?

  Walt and Brenda bred champion Bloodhounds with the name BlooMoon Bloodhounds. They bred only occasionally based on the health and quality of the dam and sire; therefore, they only bred once in a blue moon! The spelling is because too many businesses own Blue Moon, and it is not easily used by new entities.   They also like to note that when Bloodhounds bay (howl), they make circles with their floppy lips that kinda look like O's… Bloooooo Moooooon!
  
  Shanon competes and raises top-ranking show dogs, but she only breeds selectively on occasion, so part of the meaning behind the name still makes sense for her. Her kennel name for her Yorkshire Terriers is Spark.

• Why the new logo?

  When Shanon started rebranding BlooMoon to add her personal touch, she wanted to pay homage to the predecessors and namesake, the Bloodhound.  The new logo features a Bloodhound howling into the moon, with Shanon's first two Yorkshire Terrier show dogs she bred alongside the Bloodhound.
  
  Caeci, the "permanently winking" yorkie, unfortunately, lost an eye to an injury when she was a puppy. Gaining her champion title would not have been easy with only one eye, though she's a beautiful representation of the breed standards. Her not-so-easy show career was also cut short due to COVID. Though she was not able to obtain her champion title, she produced some beautiful top-ranking champions and grand-champion Yorkies.
  Jovie, shown in the logo in her full coat, followed her dad's footsteps in her show career. She and her dad have ranked in the top 3 Yorkshire Terriers in the AKC system for the years they showed. Multiple Westminster invites and placements in top shows, gaining recognition from breeders around the world. Jovie retired as one of the only 3 female Yorkshire Terriers to obtain a Gold Grand Champion title, as the highest-ranked female Yorkshire Terrier in AKC history.
  
  Both girls often hang out with their mom at BlooMoon. Come by and say hello; they love to make new friends!

• We REALLY care!

  We deeply care for the overall well-being and health of our guests! We're always looking for the best products to use and the best ingredients to feed, and we offer some of the best treatments and services in the industry.

• Is there a breed and/or size restrictions?

  Because our facility was thoughtfully built with all types of dogs and temperaments in mind, we are prepared to accommodate almost all types of dogs.
  
  All of our runs (large walk-in kennels), both inside and outside, have high, solid concrete walls and secure gates, with access to their own large yard. For the safety of our guests and staff, the Group Play setting is only by request, with a select, small number of dogs.
  
  We have runs with various sizes of doggie door to accommodate dogs of all sizes. We frequently have guests as large as Great Danes, Mastiffs, and Irish Wolfhounds and as little as 3 lb Pomeranians, Yorkies, and Maltese.
  
  If you have a small toy breed dog that may find the large kennel setting too stressful, we also offer small, cozier room for the teeny tinies.
  
  Please keep in mind that there is an extra charge per day for Bully breeds, no-contact dogs, and/or dogs that require special handling.

• We're even prepared for "Houdini" dogs

  Indeed, "Houdini" dogs are super special! They can escape yards and spaces that other dogs don't. They flip gate latches, jump over 6-foot fences, dig under fences, and pick locks!
  
  Because these Houdini's are so talented, BlooMoon was built to contain them. We have double and triple barriers to exits. All gates have clip locks on them. We have runs with tops for the special guests that can jump great heights. All the perimeter fencing has buried fencing reinforced with concrete, so these escape artist can't show off their escape by digging skills.
  
  It's not that we "double dog dare" our guests to test our facility, but we are well prepared for them.
